Celebs and their plastic surgery

Selfies and Plastic Surgery – How Social Media Is Causing More People To Go Under The Knife!

There is an interesting article in the International Business Times that explores the current culture of plastic surgery.  It’s worth a read.  Here are some highlights:

- Selfies and their popularity in social media are causing more and more people to undergo procedures to improve their appearance. Even the appearance of their hands, as hand selfies for engagement rings are popular.

- The ideal appearance varies depending on the location.  I’m quoted that the cosmetic ideal in Detroit (a natural, non-augmented look) is likely different from that in L.A. or Miami.

- South Korea just may have the highest per capita plastic surgery procedures in the world.  This is not necessarily a good thing!

- One plastic surgeon is quoted as saying that fat is the future of plastic surgery.  I would have to agree.

    Dr. Youn,

I love your blog posts! This article serves to show the power of modern day media and it’s effect on the human mind. It’s really amazing that something as simple as a selfie is causing young adults to alter their self image.
