The video says it all. So why did this man’s doctor remove his nose? This is pure speculation, but an infection of the cartilage of the nose, such as by MRSA, could result in the cartilage being destroyed. This could cause the nose to collapse, and necessitate actual removal. So what should people take away from this?
This man’s surgeon is not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I’ve written it before many times: A cosmetic surgeon is not the same as a plastic surgeon! Make sure to do your homework. If you want plastic surgery, see a REAL plastic surgeon. If you aren’t sure if your doctor is one, then visit www.surgery.org or www.plasticsurgery.org. If you are having plastic surgery of the face, then a surgeon certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery is considered an equivalent in all states.

Actress Amanda Bynes has recently announced on Twitter that she’s undergone a rhinoplasty. From her Twitter account:
Intouch used a photo from years ago on their cover and I hate it! The reason I’ve asked all magazines and blogs to stop using old photos of me is I don’t look like that anymore! I had a nose job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes. I wasn’t going to tell anyone, but I look so much prettier in my new photos that I don’t want old photos used anymore! I’m so sick of magazines and blogs using old photos! When will they stop? I will never look like that again! Having surgery was the most amazing thing for my confidence!
I’d consider that to be a nice endorsement for good plastic surgery, had she not come across lately as a troubled soul. According to the Daily Mail, she’s also recently admitted to an eating disorder and has shaved half her head! Hopefully she gets some help before something really bad happens.

Alexa Ray Joel has recently taken to her Facebook page to refute rumors she’s had a breast augmentation. From her Facebook:

According to a recent survey reported in the Daily Mail, more people in the UK ask for Kate Middleton’s nose than any other celebrity. The findings released by Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group also include the following most requested body parts:
Eyes: Rosie Huntington-Whitley and Zac Efron
Lips: Nicole Scherzinger and Ryan Gosling
Cheeks: Cheryl Cole and Ashton Kutcher
Chin: Myleene Klass and Robert Pattinson
Nose: Jude Law
So what do I think of this? It’s definitely very UK-centric, since I’ve never had someone ask for Kate Middleton’s nose. It is a fine nose at that, just not one that I’ve had requests for.
What about the others? I have no idea who Myleene Klass is, and Jude Law is pretty much MIA here in the States, as far as I know. I would agree with some of the others, like Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, and Rosie Huntington-Whitley.
However, I still have women ask for Scarlett Johannson’s butt, Ashlee Simpson’s nose, and anything but Pam Anderson’s breasts.

Before-and-after photos of “Teen Mom” star Farrah Abraham were posted on In Touch Weekly, including a poll to see whether readers thought she looked better or worse after her chin augmentation and rhinoplasty. To the surprise of plastic surgeons everywhere, a shocking 95% thinks she looks worse after her procedures than before!
I’d have to disagree. I don’t know her plastic surgeon, but I think he did a nice job. Her profile is definitely improved. Her chin projects appropriately and the bump on her nose is gone. I’d give the result a thumbs up.
So why do people dislike her new appearance? Is it the Jennifer Grey syndrome? Sometimes we get used to how a person looks- flaws and everything. When those perceived flaws are removed, then sometimes we don’t like it. That person may technically look better, but can appear too different and even unrecognizable. Maybe that’s why so many people are disliking her new look.
Or maybe they’re just haters.

MTV’s Teen Mom Farrah Abraham previously underwent a breast augmentation during the taping of the reality show. She’s now come forward to In Touch magazine (complete with photos!) revealing that she underwent a rhinoplasty and chin augmentation. She admitted, ”I’ve hated my nose since I was 13. I don’t have to hate anything on my face ever again! I feel gorgeous!”
It’s nice to hear a star be so positive about her plastic surgery. I enjoy combining rhinoplasty and chin augmentation, since they work so well to improve the harmony of the face. I’ve seen many people who believe their nose is too big, when the real problem is a small chin! I typically use a solid silicone chin implant, placed through a small incision inside the mouth. There is no visible scar, the area heals quickly, and the implant can be removed easily if the patient doesn’t like it.

We all remember the actress Jennifer Grey for her role as “Baby” in Dirty Dancing. Classic movie. Great soundtrack. I remember all the kids at Phillips Exeter summer school making fun of me for listening to it. Yes, I had “Hungry Eyes” for a lot of girls there, none of whom wanted to have “The Time of Their Life” with me. But I digress…
In the plastic surgery world, Jennifer Grey is best known as the famous actress who had a nose job… then had a hard time getting any further roles because she looked so different. Her rhinoplasty (although technically a fine one) changed her appearance so much many people had trouble recognizing her afterwards! It’s a classic example of great surgery on the wrong person.
Recently, Radar Online.com asked me to examine recent photos of Jennifer to see whether I believe she’s had more work done. I doubt she’s had any surgery. But injectables? Maybe so!
From RadarOnline.com:
“Her lips appear to have been injected with a plumping agent, likely Juvederm. Her wrinkles lines also appear filled
in, possibly with Restylane. Her forehead is as smooth as a polished dance floor, likely from injections of Botox,” he explained.
“Overall, Jennifer is no Baby anymore!”
The former Dancing With The Stars contestant admitted two years ago that she planned to get nipped and tucked
before going on the reality show, but that her husband Clark Gregg convinced her not to.

According to a photo from Hollywood Life.com, I think so! Her nose definitely looks thinner, especially in the tip region. It looks to me that Adele has had a very nice rhinoplasty (nose job). Overall, it matches her face better and looks graceful and elegant.
Don’t be too surprised, though. I think that a very large percentage of stars have had their noses done. Most, like Adele’s, look so subtle and natural that it’s hard to tell.
Kudos to her plastic surgeon! (Not me)

Bizarre story from the Huffington Post:
Miami plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer recently incited controversy when he produced a rock video, “Jewcan Sam,” in which a young Jewish man only gets the hot blond after undergoing rhinoplasty. Salzhauer, who goes by the nickname Dr. Schnoz, also ran a contest along with the video to give away free nose jobs.
He is currenty under an ethics investigation by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
The Bal Harbour-based surgeon is back in headlines, this time hoping to solve the perpetual singledom of some Orthodox Jews.
After seeing the article “Purim And The Tyranny Of Beauty: A Plea to Mothers of Girls in Shidduchim” in the Jewish Press, Salzhauer, who is Orthodox, is offering free plastic surgery to single Orthodox Jews having trouble finding a partner.
Huh? Plastic surgery videos? Dr. Schnoz? Free surgery for Orthodox Jews? Sounds like Dr. Salzhauer’s looking for some publicity. Well, it’s worked! For his sake, hopefully it isn’t at the cost of his membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

It seems every time I plan to write a post about a celebrity’s new appearance, Radar Online beats me to the punch and asks me to comment on it. That’s why you’ve seen a lot of links to Radar Online recently.
Lil Kim is the next celebrity to go under the plastic surgery microscope. She looks like a completely different person. Her nose has been whittled down to popsicle stick size. Does she have Body Dysmorphic Disorder? Buttock Implants?
Check out my comments at Radar Online HERE.

Shades of Heidi Montag! Former Bachelor contestant and current Bachelor Pad star Ella Nolan has reportedly undergone five plastic surgeries in one day. According to an article in the Huffington Post:
After an operation that included rhinoplasty, breast implants and liposuction — with some three liters of fat removed from her abdomen and upper-thigh area alone — the single mother reveals joy at her new slimmed-down body and chiseled face on the cover of Life & Style magazine. The veteran reality star — she appeared on the Jake season of the “Bachelor” last year before returning to the tube for “Bachelor Pad” — apparently wasn’t happy about how she appeared on screen: “TV magnifies all your flaws, and seeing my profile really bothered me.”
I never watch these shows, but from what I’ve seen, she looks great! Kudos to her plastic surgeon (not me).

A recent study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery determined that 1/3rd of patients who present for rhinoplasty surgery have Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD. I recently discussed this troubling statistic, and how this relates to people of color in a segment of NPR’s Tell Me More with Michel Martin.
Youn says there are potential neurological reasons for BDD, but social influences are major factors.
“We’re really a society that is based on a Caucasian ideal of beauty. If you ever look at People magazine’s ’50 Sexiest People in the World,’ there are very few No. 1 Asian-American males in that demographic in those groups. And you see that also with other types of ethnicities,” Youn said.
And the country with the highest per capita rate of plastic surgery is South Korea, says Youn.

Thank you to Michel Martin and the staff at NPR’s Tell Me More for inviting me on the show again!

Bachelor Pad contestant Vienna Girardi was recently photographed at LAX wearing a nasal splint and displaying bruising around each of her eyes. She later tweeted:
“I want my surgery to be looked at as positive reflection of how I feel… If it makes you feel better about yourself then DO IT.”
The bruising around her eyes likely signifies that her plastic surgeon broke in her nasal bones, a common part of a rhinoplasty. I bet that her dorsal hump was also removed and the tip shortened. We’ll see if she’s recognizable afterwards!

There are some interesting photos posted on the Daily Mail. They show Ice-T’s wife Coco before and after what-appears-to-be major plastic surgery. Nose job? Breast implants? Buttock implants? I believe she’s had all three. This is an extreme makeover, indeed.

Celebrity Apprentice star NeNe Leakes’ friends are concerned that she is becoming obsessed with plastic surgery. According to Popeater.com:
A source is quoted saying, “NeNe is determined to have a flatter tummy, and she intends to have more liposuction done so she looks her very best this summer.”
Friends of the reality diva are worried for her, according to the source. “Her friends are worried that she has become too obsessed with plastic surgery and have warned her about the dangers, but she just wants to be the best image of herself that she can be. She intends to have the procedure done sooner rather than later. The truth is that despite being loud and overconfident in public, NeNe has some issues regarding her self-image. She has always wanted to be famous, and now that she is those insecurities have been heightened for her to look perfect.”
Apparently she has already undergone a rhinoplasty (see before-and-after photos here), liposuction, veneers, and a breast reduction.
So when has a person had too much plastic surgery? The line can be blurry. One rule that I try to follow is: When you have plastic surgery to look different, but not necessarily better, then you are going too far.

The latest issue of Star Magazine compares Camille Grammar’s latest photos with photos from her high school yearbook. We know she’s had work done, but what? Rhinoplasty? Yup. Lip enhancement. Yessireee. Breast implants. Think so! Check it all out in the March 7th issue of Star.

Jennifer Aniston always looks great. In a recent interview she gave her thoughts on whether she may undergo plastic surgery in the future:
The 41-year-old actress said: “I think there is an extreme pressure on women and men to just stay young and unfortunately men and women don’t see it to grow old gracefully.
“A lot of women go too far and end up looking a hell of a lot older than they actually are and it sort of has a reverse effect. So talk to me in 10 years.”

There is a lot of speculation that singer Leona Lewis has had a nose job (rhinoplasty). Although her reps deny it, many people are saying that her recent appearance at Justin Beiber’s new film premiere was proof that the star has gone under the knife.
It’s a hard call. Her nose does look a bit thinner, but this could be an optical illusion due to her long dark hair. Overall she looks great (and sounds even better)!

More patients ask plastic surgeons to make them look like Angelina Jolie than any other Hollywood celebrity. It seems that everyone wants to have lips like hers, eyes like hers, legs like hers… and a boyfriend like hers. So, has Angelina Jolie had plastic surgery to look as good as she does?
In a comprehensive interview with the Daily Mail, Angelina claims to have never visited a plastic surgeon:
Her trademark pillow-plump lips, pert nose and chiselled cheekbones have made her the pin-up for cosmetic surgeons all over the world. She has never been near one herself, but she’s not about to judge those who have.
‘I haven’t had anything done and I don’t think I will. But if it makes somebody happy then that’s up to them. I’m not in somebody else’s skin to know what makes them feel better about themselves. But I don’t plan to do it myself.’
It’s nice that she’s not judgemental of others, unlike some celebs. I do not believe she’s had her lips done. Old photos of her show the same full lips that she has today. However, I believe she may have undergone a rhinoplasty. Take a look at the photos in this prior post from celebcosmeticsurgery.com.
I’m curious. Do you think Angelina Jolie is a bigger beauty than Megan Fox?
