Britney Spears – Breast Implant Reduction?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Some websites, including AwfulPlasticSurgery.com, are reporting that Britney Spears may have had her breast implants either removed or downsized. By the looks of recent photos this may very well be the case.

In my practice it is somewhat uncommon for women to considerably downsize their breast implants, but it does occur on occasion. Usually it’s with older women who had large breast implants placed long ago and now don’t want them so big anymore. Believe it or not, most women who have breast implants (at least the ones I put in) would get bigger than smaller!

Britney Spears Aged?

Monday, February 25th, 2008

This past Friday I was featured on TMZ TV, regarding the recent Britney Spears age progression photos circulating the web. The photo to the left is what a website (ageprogression.org) believes she will look like at age 36.

I don’t think this is accurate at all. If anything, she will look like her mother, Lynne Spears, who looks nothing like this horrible photo. If you really want to see something pathetic, check out what they predict she’ll look like at 46.

Britney Spears Plastic Surgery Rumors Abound

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Rumors continue to swirl regarding possible fat reducing treatments for Britney Spears. MakeMeHeal.com has a piece where yours truly is quoted regarding recent rumors that Ms. Spears has undergone either SmartLipo (dumb ads) or Lipodissolve treatments recently while in Las Vegas. At this point, I would say, “WHO CARES??!! Someone should get her some psychological help and keep the scalpel (or needle) away from her!”

On a different topic, I do like her song “Gimme More.”

Britney’s Lips Still Look Overdone

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

It’s been several days since Britney Spears appears to have had her lips augmented. They are still puffy, with obliteration of the cupid’s bow of the upper lip. Her lips are also out of proportion, looking unnatural. This type of swelling is unlikely to be caused by collagen, since it usually creates less initial puffiness than Restylane, a more likely culprit.

US Weekly has a nice article on Britney’s lips in this week’s issue.

Somebody help her.

Britney Spears, MTV, and Her Tummy

Friday, September 14th, 2007

There have been a lot of people commenting about Britney Spears and how she looked at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday. Dr. Rob Oliver at Plastic Surgery 101 has a balanced commentary from a plastic surgeon’s perspective which is a nice read.
From my standpoint, I think she looked good for someone who’s had two children. Sure, her performance was terrible (closer to Ashlee Simpson than Milli Vanilli), and she should have worn more clothing, but geez, are some people cruel. The New York Post’s “Lard & Clear Loser” headline is exaggerated at best. Hopefully her new album will silence her critics, but I doubt it.

p.s. Nope, she didn’t have a tummy tuck after all. I knew it!

Britney Spears – More Plastic Surgery?

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

More Britney Spears news (as if you hadn’t had enough). It’s being reported that Ms. Spears may be planning to spend a whopping $130,000 on plastic surgery in an attempt to drop four dress sizes in just three months to regain her previous figure. The procedures include: Lipodissolve (mesotherapy), breast lift, lower body lift, liposuction, and brachioplasty.

While this information is from Star Magazine, a “reputable” tabloid, I doubt it is completely accurate. Lower body lifts and brachioplasties would leave her with long scars which could easily be visible depending on the clothes she wears. In addition, while she may have gained some weight recently, this is no reason for her to have these surgeries. They are not for weight loss. Brachioplasty and lower body lifts are usually reserved for people with massive weight loss, such as Star Jones or Newman from Seinfeld.

Either way, Britney doesn’t need a plastic surgeon, she needs a psychiatrist!

Britney Spears – Liposuction / Lipodissolve?

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

The Sun is reporting that Britney Spears may have undergone a non-surgical fat reduction procedure called Lipodissolve while in Las Vegas recently:

The Toxic singer has had trouble shifting those last few blobby bits after giving birth to sons SEAN PRESTON and JAYDEN JAMES. So she decided to Do Somethin’ about it and nipped to see a liposuction specialist in Las Vegas.

The Advanced Lipo Dissolve centre specialises in a non evasive treatment of a series of injections which claim to permanently dissolve fat. It sounds painful and Britney looked a bit tender as her minder helped her on with her jacket.

Lipodissolve is a trade name for a type of mesotherapy. This is a controversial technique pioneered in Europe some 50 years ago which claims to reduce fat and improve cellulite through dozens (sometimes hundreds) of injections with small needles. Non-invasive it is not. To my knowledge, although the technique has been around for a long time, there are no large scale scientific studies which have proven that it actually works. I do not believe that the medications used are FDA approved for that use.

There are a couple physicians who perform mesotherapy in my area, although none of them are board-certified plastic surgeons. The one who does the most is an ER physician who is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. In my practice I have seen probably ten patients who’ve had mesotherapy prior to seeing me, and all but one saw no improvement after over $1000 of treatment and were therefore consulting for liposuction. One patient, a male, did appear to have improvement in the fat below his neck, however. Hopefully Britney will be one of those in whom it actually works…

Dr. Rob Oliver’s Plastic Surgery 101 blog has a very well-written post in this subject as well, with some other astute observations.

For more information on mesotherapy, visit “Mesotherapy not proven as a safe alternative to liposuction,” from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Britney Spears – Liposuction?

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

As if she hasn’t had enough negative publicity lately, this photo of Britney Spears has been circulating the internet, presumably showing lumpiness of the abdomen from bad liposuction. While her abdomen may look a bit lumpy in this photo, I would bet that (like Paris Hilton’s recent “breast augmentation”) this is just due to lighting, shadows, and a bit of loose skin from having two children. Time will tell.

I hope Britney continues to get help for her psychological issues. She is a very talented entertainer who needs to avoid the spotlight for a while and get back to what should be most important in her life: her children.

Britney Spears – Tummy tuck?

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Virgin.net is reporting that Jason Alexander, Britney Spears’ first husband, claims she has had a tummy tuck after the birth of her second child. According to the report:
He said: “She had a tummy tuck after the birth of her second child. She’s working on all of that. She’s worth hundreds of millions – of course she looks good.

“She has the money to have surgery and nutritionists and get her body back. And now she’s focused, she is doing it. She’s motivated – she just got rid of a man.”

I’ve seen those unfortunate photos of Britney revealing what appears to me to be her C-section scar. I saw no evidence of a tummy tuck in those photos. Is Mr. Alexander lying?

Britney Spears – Plastic Surgery Offer

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

A New York-based plastic surgeon has issued a letter to Britney Spears offering her a free tummy tuck. In the letter he states:
“As a long-time fan of you and your music, your videos revealing your six-pack abs may just be as world famous as Frank Sinatra’s blue eyes. Unfortunately childbearing and motherhood can rob you of those assets…or at least play havoc with them. I’d like to give “sexy” back to you…and everyone else…so we can all enjoy the old Britney, again.”

Jacobs also writes in his letter “You made worldwide headlines, last week, as a global audience had the chance to view a lot more than your night on the town with Paris Hilton. While those pictures have become an internet phenomenon, my trained surgeon’s eye uncovered the enduring effects of your recent C-section birthing experience. Therefore, as one of your devoted fans who happens to be a leading plastic surgeon, I’d like to give you a Holiday present – a tummy tuck that will restore your midriff to it’s previous muscle tone and firmness.”

I have seen no evidence that she even needs an abdominoplasty. Most women with C-Sections heal just fine without the need for cosmetic plastic surgery.
I have a feeling that Ms. Spears will probably not take Dr. Jacobs up on his offer…

Britney Spears – plastic surgery

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Has Britney Spears had a tummy tuck? NW Magazine is reporting that she had a tummy tuck after the birth of her second child, who was born on September 12th. Could this be true?

I sincerely doubt it. As anyone who’s had a baby knows, it takes several months for the uterus (and tummy) to shrink back to normal size. No plastic surgeon in their right mind would perform a tummy tuck on a woman so soon after giving birth. It just would not make sense. Her optimal result would happen after the uterus and abdomen get closer to normal size, when it would become more apparent how loose her skin and underlying muscle will be.

Abdominoplasties are not short-cuts to decreasing the size of the tummy after giving birth. Her tummy would be much too swollen for the surgery to be performed so soon after spitting out the spawn of K-Fed. Unless she found some disreputable, know-nothing surgeon to perform this procedure on her, this rumor has “false” written all over it.

Britney Spears sculpture

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Sculpture of Britney Spears giving birth to Sean Preston… This sculpture is ridiculous because Britney gave birth via C-Section in a sterile hospital operating room, not on a bear skin rug! Due to idiotic malpractice lawyers run amok and way too many frivilous lawsuits, the C-Section rate has risen to almost 40% nationwide. There are many who are having C-Sections as a matter of convenience as well. Some C-Sections are also performed in order to protect the mother and/or baby too. My understanding is that Britney’s reason of undergoing this type of birth is to avoid the pain of childbirth. I also hear that she may be pregnant with her second child with K-Fed. Hit me baby one more time!
