Has Ashlee Simpson had a Chin Augmentation?

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Surprisingly, it appears that she may have had a chin implant placed! These photos from Awful Plastic Surgery (there are more on their site) show what appear to be plumped up lips and a new silicone chin implant. I usually place these through a small incision inside the mouth… but only on people who will actually benefit from it.

Ashlee Simpson Comments on Her Rhinoplasty

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Ashlee Simpson has recently commented to US Magazine on her previous rhinoplasty. She stated:

“(Plastic surgery) is something that everybody should think about for a really long time. Once you know it’s something you really feel comfortable with, then to each their own. I was never really unhappy with how I looked, (and) I don’t think I am more beautiful than I was (before). I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day.”

I agree with her first statement, however I do believe her rhinoplasty helped bring out the more attractive features of her face, including her eyes, cheeks, and lips. This is a sign of a good rhinoplasty. It’s nice that she sees herself as the same person. Good plastic surgery should not make a person look TOO different, only like a better version of themselves.

Now if only she could sing…

Ashlee Simpson – Botox Injections

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The new issue of In Touch Weekly magazine claims that Ashlee Simpson has been getting Botox injections from a Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon. Twenty-three years old is a bit young for Botox, although I do occasionally perform it on people in their twenties. My average Botox patient is in their thirties to fifties, with visible frown lines and crow’s feet not usually present in a twenty-something.

Botox is now the number one cosmetic treatment today, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Last year over 4.1 million Botox procedures were performed, with the next most common treatment being chemical peel at 1.1 million. Whether Ashlee is having Botox or not, she does look good as long as she is conservative with the Restylane lip injections.

Dr. Youn on Ashlee Simpson in In Touch Weekly

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

Has Ashlee Simpson had more plastic surgery? The latest issue of In Touch Weekly focuses on this, and presents some of my comments on her possible latest work. We all know she had a rhinoplasty, which is confirmed by her surgeon, Dr. Raj Kanodia. He, like me, is an alumnus of the Dr. 90210 TV show. For the record, there is a distinct possibility she has had a chin reduction procedure (called a genioplasty) and an endoscopic browlift.

A genioplasty is a fairly invasive, painful surgery which I do not perform regularly. It basically entails breaking the chin and setting the bone back to make it look smaller.

An endoscopic browlift is a procedure I perform quite often. It is a minimally invasive surgery in which the surgeon makes small incisions in the scalp and uses fiberoptic cameras to release the forehead and pull it upward. It is contrasted with the sometimes ghastly old-fashioned forehead lift, where an incision is made across the scalp, from ear to ear. It can be very visible in some people, especially if they go bald.

Ashlee Simpson – plastic surgery

Monday, May 1st, 2006

Did Ashley Simpson get a nose job? I have been asked this by several leading celebrity magazines. It does appear to me that she has had her nose tweaked. It looks more straight and without quite the “bump” that she had before. The nose fits her face better. The sign of a good rhinoplasty is that the nose no longer takes attention away from the other attractive facial features (eyes, lips, cheekbones). The nose is meant to blend in with the face, not attract attention. Attention-getting noses are in general thought to be unattractive (see Howard Stern or Pinocchio). Therefore, I believe that it was a very nice job. Plus, she looks more like Jessica!
